Backlight or Tinted Display

Does My Console Have a Backlit or Tinted Display?

Most non-touchscreen consoles are equipped with either a tinted or backlit display.

Tinted consoles are often advertised as having a “blue tint” display. Blue tint is used in some advertising to describe consoles that do not have a back light feature. Instead, the console uses a colored background to provide additional contrast to the LCD segments that display the numbers and other information on the console display.

Backlit consoles use LED lights to project light behind the display and make the display brighter. These consoles often have a contrast adjustment feature that allow the user to change the brightness of the console display, though there are models with backlit displays that lack contrast adjustment.
